Our History and Mission
The Melody Riders Saddle Club is probably one of the oldest, if not the oldest, of the horse clubs in Washington State. It was formed in the early 1950′s by a group of local riders to provide a place in the community where various equine related activities could be held. Twenty acres of land that lies approximately one mile south of Chewelah were purchased and the work then began to build the arena, club house, and other out buildings. The club hasĀ been owned and maintained by members of the club since that time.
The by-laws of the club state the mission of the Melody Riders shall be: “To promote quality family and youth activities related to horses; to promote friendship and cooperation between individuals and other horse-related clubs and organizations; and to provide education opportunities for members and youth and to learn how to care for and enjoy horses…” A mission that the members of the club still try to follow.
The annual dues are $40 per family or $30 per person. This membership allows its members use of the arena whenever there is not a scheduled event.
